Day 1: a fine marriage of nature and culture

1ʳᵉ activity: Central Park

Take it from me, there’s nothing like a stroll through the city’s green lung to get your bearings in this new city. Central Park covers no less than 341 hectares. The icing on the cake is a host of activities, including the Central Park Zoo and Bethesda Terrace. From its vast meadows and wooded paths to its beautifully manicured gardens, this iconic park is a true haven of peace in the middle of the city. Would you like to add a touch of romance to your day? If so, I can only invite you to take a boat trip on the lake.

How do I get there?

Central Park is easily accessible by subway on lines A, B, C, D, 1, 2 and 3. Simply get off at 59th Street-Columbus Circle or 72nd Street. If you’re a little apprehensive about taking the subway, don’t worry. Several bus routes also serve the park.

How long will it take?

To take full advantage of the park’s various attractions, you should allow between 2 and 3 hours. You’ll be able to explore at your own pace and linger over certain activities at your leisure.

How do I book and how much does it cost?

Admission to Central Park is free. However, as you’d expect, some activities, such as the zoo and rowboat rentals, are not free. Tickets for the zoo, for example, cost around $13 for adults and $8 for children.

The Loeb Boathouse : Located in the heart of Central Park, this restaurant offers a magnificent view of the lake. Enjoy refined American cuisine in a serene atmosphere.

2ᵉ activity: the Museum of Modern Art

Modern art lovers will be delighted to visit MoMA, one of the world’s most famous museums. The latter houses an impressive collection of works by masters such as Van Gogh, Warhol and Picasso. Its dynamic temporary exhibitions and permanent collections offer an immersive art experience.

How to get there?

The Museum of Modern Art is located at 11 West 53rd Street. The easiest way to get there is via the B, D, F and M subway lines to the 47-50th Streets-Rockefeller Center station. For the E and M lines, stop at 5th Avenue-53rd Street.

How long will it take?

For a complete visit to MoMA, allow between 2 and 3 hours. Take your time to explore the various galleries and enjoy the rest areas.

How do I book and how much does it cost?

Tickets can be purchased online on MoMA’s official website. Rates are $25 for adults, $18 for seniors and free for children under 16. Do you hate queues? Then I can only advise you to buy your tickets in advance!

Evening activity

Take in a Broadway show for a magical evening. Broadway theaters are famous for their high-quality productions, ranging from musicals to classic plays.

Day 2: Art and culture in the spotlight

1ʳᵉ activity: Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Met is one of the world’s largest and arguably most prestigious art museums. You’ll be amazed by the sheer scope of the collection on display. It spans more than 5,000 years of history. It covers works of art from all over the world, from Egyptian antiquities to classical European paintings. It would be surprising to find yourself bored!

How to get there ?

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is located at 1000 Fifth Avenue. If you’re traveling by subway, take lines 4, 5 and 6 and get off at 86th Street. Several bus lines also serve the museum.

How long will it take?

To explore the Met’s vast collections, allow between 3 and 4 hours. This will allow you to discover the main exhibitions without rushing.

How do I book and how much does it cost?

As with most museums, tickets can be purchased directly online. Admission is $25 for adults, $17 for seniors and $12 for students. Children under 12 enter free of charge.

The Cafeteria at The Met: Enjoy a lunch break at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The cafeteria offers a variety of fresh, light dishes, perfect for a quick break between visits.

2ᵉ activity: the High Line

If you have no idea what it is, the High Line is a linear urban park. It was built on a former elevated railroad track. It offers a unique walk through Manhattan’s West Side. As you stroll along the High Line, you’ll be treated to landscaped gardens, public art and spectacular views of the city. Don’t forget your camera!

How do I get there?

The High Line starts at Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District and ends at 34th Street. It can be reached by subway lines A, C, E and L, getting off at 14th Street station.

How long will it take?

For a pleasant, relaxed stroll, allow around 2 hours. You’ll have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the gardens, or linger to take in the breathtaking views.

How to book and how much does it cost?

The High Line is open to the public and free of charge. No tickets or reservations are required, except for special events. Just remember to check on the day of your visit!

Day 3: A day of escape and serenity

1ʳᵉ activity: the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island

You’ll agree with me, it’s impossible to come to New York without visiting the Statue of Liberty. An iconic symbol of liberty and democracy, you won’t be able to remain unmoved by its presence! Continue your visit by heading to Ellis Island to discover the Immigration Museum. This museum traces the history of the millions of immigrants who arrived in the United States.

How do I get there?

You can only reach the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island by taking one of the many ferries that cross the island. These depart from Battery Park, which can be reached by getting off at Bowling Green station via subway lines 4 and 5. Alternatively, you can take the 1 and R lines to South Ferry.

How long will it take?

For a complete visit to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, allow at least 5 hours. This includes not only the ferry journey, but also the visit to both sites.

How do I book and how much does it cost?

Tickets for the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island can be purchased online on the official Statue Cruises website. Rates are $25.50 for adults, $21 for seniors and $16 for children aged 4 to 12. If you don’t want to be disappointed, it’s wiser to book in advance!

Statue of Liberty Crown Cafe: Enjoy a quick, convenient lunch at the cafe next to the Statue of Liberty. They offer a variety of sandwiches, salads and snacks.

2ᵉ activity: Times Square

Want to end your New York stay on a high note? If so, why not head to Times Square? Known for its gigantic illuminated billboards, theaters and buzz, Times Square is quite simply the vibrant heart of New York.

How do I get there?

Times Square is located at the intersection of Broadway and 7th Avenue. It’s easy to reach thanks to the many subway lines that serve it, including the 1, 2, 3, 7, N, Q, R, W and S.

How long will it take?

Allow around 2 hours to explore Times Square. You’ll be able to soak up the unique atmosphere, do some shopping and, if you’re lucky, maybe catch a street show.

How to book and how much does it cost?

Access to Times Square is free. If you want to see a Broadway show, we recommend that you book your tickets in advance, either online or at the TKTS box office. This way, you’ll benefit from last-minute discounts.

Evening activity

Top of the Rock Observation Deck: Climb to the top of Rockefeller Center for a breathtaking panoramic view of New York City. It’s a great way to end your trip with a magnificent night view of the city.
