Day 1: take a cultural and historical bath
Activity 1: visit the Tate Modern
To start your exploration of this capital in style, a visit to the Tate Modern seems to me the most appropriate! You probably don’t know it, but it’s one of the world’s most famous museums of modern and contemporary art. The least we can say is that the place is… surprising! Housed in a former power station, the museum features works by masters such as Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol and Mark Rothko. If you’re more interested in modern art, the Tate Modern’s temporary exhibitions will give you the chance to contemplate world-renowned contemporary artists! Quite an opportunity, don’t you think?
How do I get there?
Tate Modern is located on the banks of the River Thames, close to Southwark subway station (Jubilee line) or Blackfriars station (District and Circle lines). You’ll have no trouble getting there with your family or friends.
How long will it take?
If you don’t want to be in too much of a hurry to explore the various galleries, I suggest you set aside a slot of 2 to 3 hours. After all, when you love art, you don’t count!
How to book and how much does it cost?
You’ll be delighted to know that admission to the Tate Modern is free. However, some temporary exhibitions may be subject to a charge, so make sure you know in advance if you’re interested in one of them. Tickets for these exhibitions are available online from the museum’s official website.
