A New Experience in New York City: The Edge Outdoor Platform
Head to New York City’s trendy new neighborhood, Hudson Park, at 30 Hudson Yards, accessible from 10th Avenue or Hudson Yards Plaza, for this new experience. Access is through the 4ᵉ floor of The Shops and Restaurants shopping center. After learning about the virtues of this new eco-friendly neighborhood and an immersive experience, you will be able to enjoy a unique experience.
The adventure begins once you enter the elevator that propels you in 52 seconds to the 100th floor of the tower, over 335 meters high. Discover this new observatory of the city of New York opened since March 11, 2020. It joins the existing ones, Empire State Building, Top of the Rock or One World Observatory. It is however the only one to offer, in an original way, a new concept of immersion in the void, with a direct view and a glass floor.
Discover New York from The Edge: a must-see tour
The Edge observation deck allows you to see New York City in a different way by having an unobstructed view of the city in all directions. Through the huge glass windows, you’ll enjoy a 360-degree view of the entire Manhattan skyline from a single vantage point.
This observation platform, the highest in New York, allows you to have a view of the most beautiful monuments: the Empire State Building, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty and a panoramic view of Manhattan, Ellis Island or the Hudson River. From the outdoor terrace, the view of the city is direct and gives you the impression of flying in the air. Enjoy the breathtaking views, suspended at 335 meters high.
An original architecture for a breathtaking view
The architecture of the tower, all in glass, combines technology, engineering and modernity. The platform is triangular in shape. The glass walls slope outward, giving you a breathtaking view in complete safety. On the 100ᵉ floor, the 25-meter platform juts outward.
An exterior staircase allows you to climb even higher, between the 102nd and 104th floors, and take pictures above the windows. The outermost point, The Eastern Point, is only accessible to one person at a time. You find yourself surrounded by air and sky, with the feeling of being suspended in the air. The platform has two glass floors that allow you to see the city 100 floors below and the crowds in the streets.
The more adventurous can lie down on the glass parts for unusual photos. Thrills are guaranteed. Will you try the adventure?
The City Climb: a unique experience in the world
For adrenaline lovers, it is possible to personalize the experience by climbing the façade. The Edge is the only one to offer the highest building climb in the world and in the open air. An exterior staircase on the facade inclined at 45 degrees will allow you a safe adventure, securely fastened in your harness and accompanied by a guide who will give you instructions throughout the climb.
People prone to vertigo should refrain! When you arrive on the platform at the top, you will be able to live a unique experience: leaning and staying suspended in the void. Your friends or family can share this moment by cheering you on during the ascent from The Edge.
Sky skate: the unusual activity of The Edge
If you are in New York between January and mid-March, don’t miss this new unusual activity that allows you to access the highest skating rink in the world. Set up since January 10, 2023 on The Edge platform, this indoor synthetic ice rink gives you the sensation of skating in the air while having a breathtaking view of New York’s most beautiful neighborhoods.
Entirely synthetic, using no energy, this rink is environmentally friendly. The skates are provided, being adapted not to damage the ice.
Sip a cocktail or have a meal: “the Peak”, at the top of New York
Located one floor above the platform, a relaxation area consists of a high-end restaurant, a lounge bar and an event space. The Peak restaurant welcomes you and offers you dishes based on fresh seasonal products from the land, the sea and the garden. While enjoying the food, you can enjoy the incredible view of New York City from the summit. After the City Climb or more wisely by the elevators, head to the champagne bar on the outdoor terrace for a drink or cocktail. “The Peakaboo hosts DJ nights on Thursday and Saturday nights for those who want to extend the evening. Private rooms can be reserved for special events. It’s a great way to leave a lasting impression.
When should I visit The Edge?
The Edge is open Monday through Sunday from 10am to 10pm.
When booking, you will need to specify the date and time slot with a standard entrance. Otherwise, you will have to invest in a Flexipass. The visit lasts about an hour, but you can stay longer if you wish. For a more relaxed visit in small numbers, book early in the morning. The best time to see the colors of the sky is at sunset. But this is also the time when the crowds are greatest. Another possibility is to book in the late afternoon to enjoy both the moment and the sunset.
Whichever way you choose to experience The Edge New York, it will undoubtedly leave you with unforgettable memories to share with family and friends.
