1. Apply for ESTA at the last minute
How many times have I read on the Internet and heard “we’ll see after ESTA” … You do not have to have your electronic travel authorization for the United States to buy your plane ticket. On the other hand, without it, you will never board your plane and the airline will not reimburse you.
You must ask for your ESTA at least 72 hours before the departure time on the official website of the American government. It costs $14 for 24 months, or $0.50 a month, so waiting is meaningless.
