Are you new in town and looking for a gentle introduction to Miami? A great option would be to immerse yourself in the magnificent Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden. Here you can reconnect with the natural environment and discover a beautiful diversity of plants and landscapes. Who said this city was all palm trees and beaches?
How do I get there?
The garden is located in Coral Gables. Don’t worry, it’s easily accessible by public transport. Bus routes 136 and 56 stop nearby. Free parking is available close to the garden’s entrance, should you have a car and want to take on Florida traffic!
How long will it take?
Whether you’re well-versed in botany or just visiting for the pleasure of your eyes, allow between 2 and 3 hours. You’ll have plenty of time to appreciate the different plants without getting bored!
How to book and how much does it cost?
Tickets can be purchased at the garden entrance or online, whichever is more convenient for you. To help you budget for this outing, please note that admission to the Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden is $25 for adults, $18 for teenagers and seniors over 65, and $12 for children aged 6 to 11.
Where to have lunch?
For a lunch break after this nature immersion, head to Glass & Vine, a charming restaurant located in Coconut Grove, just a 15-minute drive from Coral Gables. With its shaded terrace and fresh tropical dishes, it’s the perfect place to relax after a visit to the botanical gardens.

2ᵉ activity: Wynwood Walls for street art enthusiasts
I don’t know about you, but when I arrived in the artists’ district, I was immediately drawn in by the array of colors, shapes and bohemian atmosphere permeating the place! Known for the impressive colorful murals adorning its buildings, you can’t help but fall in love, big or small. These works of art often tell local stories, social struggles and cultural elements of the community. After a stroll, you can enjoy a well-deserved rest by recharging your batteries in a small restaurant or café.
How to get there?
Wynwood is easily accessible from bus routes 2, 7, 9 and 10. Are you staying in downtown Miami? Good for you, as the neighborhood is also a short cab or bike ride from downtown.
How long should I plan to stay?
This question is difficult to answer, as it depends on each person’s affinity with the messages of this street art. Nevertheless, I’d recommend spending around 2 hours here. Of course, there’s nothing to stop you spending the evening, especially at weekends.
How to book and how much does it cost?
Visiting the murals and art galleries at Wynwood Walls is entirely free of charge and requires no reservation.
What about the evening?
For dinner, why not stay in the artistic and eclectic mood of Wynwood by heading to Kush? This friendly restaurant, renowned for its tasty burgers, local craft beers and relaxed atmosphere, is perfect for an evening out in the neighborhood. In addition to a quality menu, the retro decor and art hanging on the walls extend the artistic experience of the day.

Day 2: soak up the sun and the culture!
1ʳᵉ activity: Key Biscayne
You can’t come to Miami and not spend a few hours at the beach. I can’t recommend you miss Biscayne enough! This island offers pristine beaches, beautiful parks like Crandon Park and Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. Do you enjoy hiking or biking? If so, you’re in luck: there are numerous trails waiting to be explored. You’ll also enjoy spectacular ocean views and a visit to the historic Cape Florida Lighthouse.
How to get to Key Biscayne?
Key Biscayne is accessible by car via the Rickenbacker Causeway. By public transport, take bus 102 Route B from downtown Miami.
How long will it take?
Most visitors opt for a full day. After all, there’s plenty to do there. So, if you’re planning to do the same, allow between 4 and 6 hours. You will, however, be dependent on the weather. So be sure to check the weather before you leave.
How to book and how much does it cost?
Admission to Key Biscayne is free, but it goes without saying that some activities and private tours are not free. This applies, for example, to bike rentals or visits to the lighthouse.
Where to have lunch?
For lunch after a relaxing morning in Key Biscayne, stop off at Boater’s Grill in Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. This casual waterfront restaurant offers fresh seafood dishes, tacos and Cuban specialties, perfect for a tasty break overlooking the bay.

2ᵉ activity: the Miami Seaquarium
Here’s an excellent destination for families or marine animal lovers. On the program: dolphin, orca and sea lion shows. It’s the perfect way to recapture your childlike spirit! There are also exhibitions on marine life and ecosystems. You’ll have the opportunity to learn all you can while marvelling at the aquatic fauna. I can assure you that you’ll never see the clock ticking!
How do I get there?
The aquarium is located on Virginia Key Island, accessible by car via the Rickenbacker Causeway. By public transport, just take the 102 Route B bus to the Seaquarium stop.
How long is a visit?
To get the most out of the shows and exhibits, allow half a day. That way, you won’t miss out on any of the attractions on offer.

Tickets for the Miami Seaquarium can be purchased online on their official website. Prices are $49.99 for adults and $39.99 for children aged 3 to 9. Only children under 3 don’t pay. If you’re coming as a family, ask about family packages. You may be eligible for a discount.
What about the evening?
To end the day on a high note, head for Rusty Pelican for dinner with a breathtaking view of Biscayne Bay and Miami’s city lights. This elegant restaurant offers a varied cuisine, focusing on seafood and reinterpreted American flavors. The chic ambience and exceptional views create the perfect setting for a memorable evening.

Day 3: dive into adventure and fun!
1ʳᵉ activity: Jungle Island
Fancy an exotic adventure in the heart of Miami? Jungle Island is the ideal destination for you and your family! This wildlife and botanical park offers fascinating interactions with animals such as lemurs, kangaroos and tropical birds. Other activities such as tree climbing and animal shows are available if you want to add a little spice to your day!
How to get there?
The park is located on Watson Island, just a few minutes from downtown. You’ll have no trouble getting there by car or cab via MacArthur Causeway. By public transport, take bus routes 3, 16 or M to reach the island.
How long will it take?
Time flies when you’re having fun. So, to take full advantage of the various attractions and activities on site, allow around 4 hours. That way, you won’t miss a single show.

Tickets for Jungle Island can be purchased online on their official website. Prices are as follows:
- 49.95 for adults ;
- 37.95 for children aged 3 to 10 ;
- free for children under 3.
Family packages are also available. The park is very popular, especially in fine weather. So don’t tempt the devil, and book well in advance to guarantee access.
Where to eat?
For lunch on site, the Jungle Island Cafe offers a variety of simple, tasty dishes for the whole family, with options for sandwiches, salads and a few snacks. If you prefer to venture a little further afield, The Deck at Island Gardens, just a few minutes’ drive away, offers an exceptional setting overlooking Biscayne Bay and a menu inspired by Mediterranean flavors.

2ᵉ activity: Miami Children’s Museum
If you’ve come to Florida with your children and want a fun and educational time, the Miami Children’s Museum is a must! This interactive museum has been specially designed for them. Hands-on exhibits and activities have been designed to stimulate their imagination and curiosity. Young and old alike can play in miniature replicas of iconic locations, take part in creative workshops and even try their hand at real-life professions such as firefighting or cooking.
How do I get there?
The Miami Children’s Museum is also located on Watson Island, close to Jungle Island. So you can use the same route as for the animal park.
How long will it take?
To explore all the exhibits and activities, allow between 2 and 3 hours. This will allow your children to get the most out of this interactive experience without having to rush.
How do I book and how much does it cost?
Tickets for the Miami Children’s Museum can be purchased online on their official website. Rates are the same for adults and children over 1 year of age. Admission costs $22 per person. Family discounts and special offers are sometimes available. Be sure to check before you visit.
What about the evening?
After a busy day, why not round off your stay with a pleasant dinner in a friendly, typically Miami-American setting? Head to Bayside Marketplace for an evening overlooking the bay, with a wide choice of restaurants to suit all tastes. Among them, the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co, inspired by the famous film Forrest Gump, offers a varied seafood menu, perfect for families.
